Arrange a food and fund drive

According to Feeding America, with unemployment hanging around 8%, high food and gas prices, and cuts to programs that help low-income people, food banks across the nation are feeding over five million people each week.  Donations of either food or funds are vital for food banks to continue supporting their local communities.  Find your local food bank, and consider arranging a food and fund drive at your school, business, community center, or house of worship to keep their supplies high.

It's important to be in communication with the organization you'd like to support and identify their specific needs.  Securing the right foods, delivered in the most convenient way, can reduce food waste and extra costs to the food bank or pantry.

Feel like taking your food drive to the next level?

Canstruction holds annual design-and-build competitions in which teams construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food.  In each city after the structures are built the creations go on view to the general public as giant art exhibits. At the close of the competitions, all of the food used in the structures is donated to community emergency feeding programs.

But you don’t need to make giant sculptures to make a difference; sometimes, ensuring someone has enough food is as easy as a click of a button.
