Presidents United to Solve Hunger - PUSHtosign Campaign

University students: PUSH your presidents to sign the Presidents’ Commitment to Food and Nutrition Security, joining with university leaders who have declared that hunger and malnutrition have no place on their campus – or anywhere in a 21st Century world. The Presidents United to Solve Hunger (PUSH) movement seeks to accelerate solutions to hunger through coordinated collective action among universities in the areas of research, teaching, outreach and student engagement. Go to www.pushtosign.org to find out more about this student movement and organize an awareness event on your campus as part of your World Food Day activities on October 16. The web site has a full student toolkit including a handbook outlining how to start a campus movement and become a PUSH Campus Coordinator, petition forms to gather signatures to encourage your president to sign and a copy of the Commitment statement that you can share with your campus leaders. Apply to be a student delegate at the official signing and launch of the PUSH movement at an event at the United Nations on December 9, 2014 where university leaders and students from every continent will gather.

Oxfam World Food Day dinners

This October students will gather over a meal to have a discussion about where our food comes from, who cultivates it, and how we can take personal actions that will help protect farmers and farmland around the world.  Host a dinner -- Oxfam has all the materials you need, including the World Food Day discussion guide to help inspire conversation and make your event a success.

Oxfam America has great resources for student activists who are driven to become the next generation of leaders. About 100 Oxfam Clubs are currently active, with new clubs forming every year. Whether you’re in high school, college, or even graduate school, joining or starting an Oxfam Club is a great way to take action in the fight against hunger and poverty this coming World Food Day.

Hunger U Tour

LET'S GIVE HUNGER AN EXPIRATION DATE

Click here to test your hunger knowledge with our HungerU Challenge!

HungerU is an initiative of the Farm Journal Foundation designed to educate college students about the significance of modern agriculture and how it affects the world’s food crisis.

The HungerU Tour is visiting college campuses across the United States not only to spark conversations about how today’s farmers are helping feed a hungry world, but also to educate about the critical role that modern agriculture plays every day in putting food on our tables. Even after the tour has left campus, the conversations will continue; join the discussion by following HungerU on Facebook and Twitter.

Follow the 2013 HungerU Tour via the HungerU Crew's blog: Thoughts from the HungerU Road

Bring HungerU to your campus!

HungerU gives your school an up-close look at the issues surrounding one of our greatest world problems: hunger. At each stop, the HungerU Tour pulls its trailer onto campus and sets up its video exhibit. The dynamic video presentation takes audiences through the complex, global issue of hunger and demonstrates how modern agriculture continues to support practical solutions to fight hunger. HungerU team members are present to answer any questions or concerns about the global issue, as well as guide students on where to go for further information.
