Over the years since World Food Day began, an incredible diversity of observances programs and project have been organized – in our country and around the world – and a rich mine of experience is available that wasn’t there before. Although programs usually can’t be copied in every detail, neither do we have to “reinvent the wheel.”
The national office has always sought to share ideas and experiences through the WFD family network. This has been done through our periodic reports and in direct, personal contracts through letters and telephone calls, and the purpose of this pamphlet or “manual” is to further this process of sharing. We think of the national office as a resource/service center for WFD organizers, and we hope you will too.
Each section should suggest or point toward ideas or projects that a WFD committee or coalition might consider for its own use, through of course with adaptation to local conditions. If any of these ideas appeals to you, please call or write the national office. Remember that nothing in the manual is untried. Either we can give you more information directly or we can refer you to someone who has already “field tested” the program idea that interests you. You will find these WFD organizers happy to show you how they overcame problems and the resources they used to build a successful program.
