Partners of the Americas is a private, voluntary, not-for-profit organization linking the citizens of 46 US states with the people of most Latin American and Caribbean countries. Founded in 1964, Partners of the Americas links volunteers in personal and institutional relationships. A major purpose is to sponsor small-scale community based projects that promote economic and human development. Partners’s sponsored technical assistance and exchanges between partnerships focus on such diverse areas as agriculture and rural development, rehabilitation, special education, business and trade, the arts, sports, and journalism. All projects are carried out by volunteers.
