Founded in 1930 as the first national groupfor those concerned with the delivery of

government aid to the poor. It was foundedas the American Public Welfare Association

and was renamed the American PublicHuman Services Association (APHSA)

in 1997. Its mission - To develop, promote, and implement

public human service policies and practices that improve the health and

well-being of families, children, and adults.
