This year's symposium, "The Dual Global Challenges of Malnutrition and Obesity," will feature presentations by experts from around the globe. The symposium coincides with the awarding of the $250,000 World Food Prize to Dr. Modadugu Gupta of India.  The state of Iowa has proclaimed October 16th, World Food Day, as an annual Day of Recognition honoring Dr. Norman Borlaug.  A new community celebration -- the World Food Festival -- has been created.  It will be an all-inclusive event showcasing Iowa's diverse populations through the rich cuisines of its peoples.
